FMP day 11

Today I continued with my experimentation using watercolour and ink to create fashion illustrations. I did lots of different styles and techniques using artist inspired styles aswell a trying my own. I also visited the library in UCA and had a look at some of the current journals such as frieze and view.

I did a few mor pages to add to my research including 3 different artist research. I researched into artists that create fashion illustrations including Jessica durrant and David downton. I then started on some experimentation using watercolour to create my own fashion illustrations.

Today I continued with development of my idea by planning out with thumbnails, colour scheme and legibility. I did a research page for information I found in view magazine journal to help with my development an idea generation.

Today I started the day with a peer review presentation where I stood up at the front and explained to the class what my intentions and ideas are for my FMP project. I then recieved feedback which I will consider when completing this project. I then looked into vogue magazine from a long time ago one in 2002 and another was a diamond jubilee edition where it shows major fashion changes. I then put my logo together for the live project volunteer for canterbury.

FMP day 7

Today I highlighted the main points for primary, secondary, and tertiary research. My paper sample came through the post so I now have them for when it comes to printing. I printed out my blog for my work experience and stuck it into my project.

I went to a meeting for mentoring the level 1s and 2s on the course to help them with their end of year show. Tho took up the whole morning. In the afternoon I continued with my research by researching into yves saint laurent and looking at view magazine in the lrc at the latest fashion trends.

Today I have written my project proposal and researched into history of magazines, my competitors, target audience, and current fashion logos. I feel I have done a lot today and feel I know where I am heading in this project. I will continue with my research. 

Work experience day 2

It was my second day working in Canary Wharf for the Sunday people newspaper. Today I attended the conference again and then watched someone draw up pages for this weeks edition of the paper. I then applied what I saw and designed my own layouts for my FMP at college. I really enjoyed today and feel like it was very productive.

Work experience final day

Today was my final day of work experience with the Sunday people newspaper. Today I continued with my layout designs for my magazine I will be completing at college for my final major project (FMP). I also was given an example of last weeks edition of the front cover of the newspaper and was asked to redo the layout adding in different headlines which I had to research. I was very pleased with my outcome. I have printed out all my work completed and some examples of unfinished work for this weeks edition which I will put into my project. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 3 days and have got a really good insight into tho line of work. It had also made me think about maybe pursuing this line of graphic design for my future career.

Work experience

As part of my FMP I am doing 3 days worth of work experience for the Sunday people newspaper in canary wharf. Today was my first day and I really enjoyed it. I had the chance to attend a conference and then was asked to design the layout for some spreads from previous issues. 

Here is a picture of one of the previous newspapers that was printed. I used this for inspiration. 

Here I had a go at layout design and designed the travel column just to get a taste of what is needed.

Start of FMP

Today was the start of the final major project. I spent the day thinking of ideas for what I could base it on and researched into the subject to gain inspiration. I started to plan my FMP proposal which I will write out before I make a start on the project. 

University interview

I recently had an interview for Canterbury Christ Church University at the Broadstairs campus. This was my first interview for uni so gave me the experience. The day consisted of tours of the facilities and talks about the graphic design course I have applied for. This was followed by a group interview where we were able to talk a bit about ourselves and 3 pieces of our work. I feel the interview went really well and I really likes the university.
