FMP day 39

I went to burgate today as part of my unit 20 to look after the work in the show. I welcomed people who came to look round and asked for any comments about the show.

I tried to make a stand with my 3D poster on and the glasses. I firs drafted it on paper and then out of card. I think. This is a really good innovative idea and will make my piece at the show interactive.

Today consisted I me evaluating my FMP and my final outcome. I then went down to the shops and helped clear up an place name tags in place for the show.

I went down to Parker's print again to pick up my final magazines. The cost was covered by KAFEC. I was really pleased with the outcome of my magazines. I also printed out my 2 final posters on the inkjet printer on matte paper. I then framed tees and took all my outcome down to burgate and hung them up. I put my magazine on a plymth infront.

Today I started designing posters to go alongside my magazine in the show. I developed these and picked my 2 favourite designs. I bought some frames for them to go in.

Today I made the final stages of my development to my magazine. I developed it about 7 times until I was happy. I printed out the development and annotated over it stating the changes I would make to it.

Today I went down to Parker's printing on canterbury to get a quote for my final piece and sample paper. I was quoted £30 for 5 printed copies of my magazine. We also decided on a nice matted paper and stapled pages. I was told what I needed to do to send it off.

Today I created another poster for my magazine. I used a retro 3D effect on it and had a great idea for innovative merchandise. I could make some 3D glasses to see the image I 3D.

First of all we all went to see the three locations for the end of year show. We had post-it notes to place where we would like our final piece to go. I put my post-it note in white friars but I needed up in burgate which I didn't mind. When we got back to college I continued with my development.

Today we had a meeting about show prep to get ideas for the show and best ways to hang the work. We wrote down notes and discussed best options. I also started the development of my magazine with the new name an layouts.

Looking at my magazine an me target audience I felt I needed to change my magazine to suit the target audience more. I really liked one of my double page spreads up all night and thought this would be a brilliant name for my magazine and would suit the target audience better. It's also not as obvious as mannequin which makes it more innovative.

I looked back at my layouts and felt I wanted to be more innovative with my designs. For reference and inspiration I looked at Madonna's book called sex as it is full of design inspiration with different layouts and innovative designs.

I went to margate and visited dreamland with KAFEC today. The day consisted of us going to dreamland with our mentees and taking photos and observational drawing of the site. It was a great chance to get to know my mentee a bit more. We then went to the beach and visited the turner contemporary.

Today I developed some of the pages inmy magazine to make them better and more effective. Some pages I changed completely others just a few developments and changes.

I started my first layout of the magazine adding in my edited images and laying out the design of the spreads. I have completed some pages and others I have started.

Today I further edited some of my photos to use throughout my magazine and for the front cover. I didn't like the first design of the front cover as it wasn't innovative enough. I used the colours of cymk.

I started to build up my first mock up of my magazine starting with the front cover. My magazine is called mannequin as it is fashion related. I made a rough copy of the layout to help build up my magazine.

I have completed my photoshoot and I made a contact sheet of all the photos I took. I used my sister and her friend as my models for the images. I thine started to edit and manipulate the photos to put in my magazine. 

FMP day 21

Today as a group we all went to th pick me up show in London. We looked round at different design work and art from UK's original contemporary graphic arts festival. After we visited Covent gardens and around regent street for inspiration in fashion. We also visited M&M world!

Today I made a hand-made rough copy mock up of my magazine saying what will go on each page and a rough idea of the layout. I also researched into the pick me up show where we will be going on our next trip.

Today I made some posters to put in my final magazine. I made some for sunglass hut and benefit make up. I used photos from my image manipulation experimentation and water colour experiments. I think they work effectively and will look good in the magazine.

Today I started looking at image manipulation and different processes I could use to edit photos. First of all I looked at the retro 3D film effect using red and green/blue filters. I also tried out some effects on Photoshop such as black & white and exposure.
